Major Projects

The Gallatin County GIS Division has several major projects underway that will cause disruptions to services and delay office operations. Each project is described below.

  • This first project is a major overhaul of the Gallatin County Web Map Application. Users of this application can expect disruptions until a replacement is launched as the code used to build this application is at the end of its life cycle. This project involves migrating the legacy code written with the ArcGIS for JavaScript 3.2 API code to the ArcGIS Maps SDK for Javascript 4.27. The difference between the two API's is substantial and this project will require rebuilding significant portions of the current web application. Currently, the project is in the planning phase.
  • The second project is to transition the County's 911 geospatial data infrastructure to the NG911 GIS Data Model. This project involves restructuring the data used for dispatch to comply with the standard and will have cascading effects for the general infrastructure. The project is in the planning phase.
  • The third project is the implementation of the Gallatin County Addressing and Road Naming Policies and Procedures Manual. This started with the process of adopting the standards and has now moved to implementation. Several application forms and processes will be revised in this transition.
  • The final project is to develop a geospatial strategic vision. This document, currently in draft, provides a mission and a vision for the GIS office. A copy of the draft is available below. Public comment will be opened and available on an ongoing basis through a webform soon.
